What a good RPG progression system actually feels like
After playing dozens of mobile RPGs, I've stopped caring about how big a skill tree looks and started caring about whether any of its branches change how I play. There's a huge difference.
The best systems, like the one in Emberfall Chronicles, let a single choice reshape a character's role. Turning a support unit into a frontliner shouldn't feel like cheating — it should feel like a build.
Bad progression hides behind numbers. You level up, your damage goes up, nothing feels different. That's not growth, that's a loading bar wearing a costume.
My advice when trying a new RPG: ignore the shiny menus for the first hour and ask one question — did this new ability make me fight differently? If yes, stick around.
