When atmosphere beats action
Every so often a game proves you don't need combat to keep someone glued to a screen. Hollowreach did that for me, and it got me thinking about why atmosphere alone can carry a whole experience.
Sound is the secret weapon. Played on headphones, the drip of water and distant hums do more than any health bar could. The gentle controls stay out of the way and let the world breathe.
These games ask for a different kind of attention. You're not reacting, you're noticing. That suits certain evenings perfectly.
If you've only ever played action-heavy mobile titles, I'd genuinely recommend trying one slow adventure. It resets your expectations in a nice way.
